Real Action on Climate Change

Real Action on Climate Change

The Moorabool Central Highlands Power Alliance represents communities that support real action on client change.

Our communities are regional and farming communities – we see, feel and experience the negative effects of climate change every day.

We see climate change in weather patterns that make farming more difficult, in rain that falls less predictably, and in bushfire seasons that start earlier, end later and deliver more devastating fires.

Our communities support renewable energy and understand the importance of an energy grid that delivers renewable energy to where it is needed.

Real action on climate change and the delivery of renewable energy should not come at the cost of food security, cause catastrophic damage to the environment nor put lives at risk from an increased bushfire risk.

Real action on climate change should not be an either or – where the livelihoods of those in regional and rural communities are sacrificed and unnecessary environmental damage is undertaken for outdated and high-risk transmission.

The proposed transmission corridor will cause irreversible environmental damage to established bio links, endangered flora and fauna and include the removal of 155,000 mature native trees.

There is a better way to deliver the Western Victoria Transmission Network Project – one that delivers the same benefits, the same action on climate change, without destroying our environment and communities.

There are other less impactful options that can deliver a similar outcome.

These changes will not cost one job. They may cost more to deliver, but what price are AusNet and the State and Federal Governments willing to put on our communities?

Community Compliant Letters

5,000 Community Complaint Letters

The Stop AusNet’s Towers volunteers have collected and collated 5,000 individually addressed and hand signed COMPLAINT LETTERS from community members.

The community is angry and frustrated by the proposed project and its devastating impacts and by the deplorable behaviour and actions of the project’s proponents AusNet and AEMO. To date community concern has been largely ignored and dismissed.

Over the past two years large numbers of the community have written to various members of AusNet as well as to members of both the State and Federal Governments with little or no response. Opposition to this project is growing daily and other communities around Australia and taking up our cause.

So, to voice their concerns community members have personally signed complaint letters expressing indignation about the way this project has been handled from its inception.

These community members are representing their families, business and organizations and as such these letters represent a small part of the tens of thousands of western Victorians who oppose this project in its current format.

We have developed a comprehensive legal fight backed by significant public funding to date however to progress this challenge and force this project back to the drawing board we need to raise a further funds.

We all face significant financial loss if these towers and the terminal station are built.

Dig deep and tell your friends and neighbours. Every donation helps.
